Time and Energy Resolved Fluorescence of Cis-glyoxal

چکیده

A pulsed, tunable dye laser has been used to escite the O-O band of cis~glyoxal near 4875 A, at pressures from 30 to I50 mtorr, Fluorescence was resolved through a spectrometer and lifetines measured. Rate constants for the quenching of the vibrationless levels of the first excited singlet states of cisand frans.glyoxal ‘uy argon, cyclohexane and glyoxal are presented. Quenching rates of cis-glyoxal are generally two to three times faster than the corresponding rrans rates. A zero-pressure extrapolated lifetime of 0.96 2 0.02 ~.~sec is obtained for cis.glyoxal.

Condensation of glyoxal, formaldehyde and anilines lead to the formation of 2,4,6,8- tetraphenyl and substituted phenyl 2,4,6,8-tetraazabicyclo [3.3.0] octanes. The reactions are sensitive to pH and temperature. Ortho derivatives of anilines do not participate in this condensation.
